South Texas Democrats Select Michelle Vallejo as Challenger Against MAGA Monica De La Cruz

AUSTIN, Texas Tonight, South Texas Democrats have chosen Michelle Vallejo as their candidate to challenge MAGA Monica De La Cruz in Congressional District 15. This district stands out as a key battleground targeted by the DCCC’s Red to Blue program, highlighting its egregious gerrymandering and potential for a dramatic shift.

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa issues the following statement:

“Michelle Vallejo, a small business owner and passionate community leader from South Texas, hails from a family of farm workers, immigrants, and entrepreneurs. With firsthand experience in the challenges of accessing quality healthcare and navigating the struggles of small businesses in the region, Michelle is deeply connected to the real challenges facing families in her district. Her personal story resonates with South Texans, who trust her to champion their interests, offering a stark departure from the extremist agenda of MAGA supporter Monica De La Cruz.

“De La Cruz's track record speaks volumes: advocating for cuts to Social Security and Medicaid, attempting to overturn the 2020 election, and championing a blanket abortion ban with no exceptions – all actions that have harmed our  South Texas community. MAGA Monica De La Cruz is unfit to represent South Texans, and we look forward to unseating this extremist and electing Michelle Vallejo to give this district a real voice in Washington.”
